This documentary shares the story of Jackson Scott Conroy: his battle with addiction, the family’s struggle to help him, and ultimately his untimely death at 21 years old, on April 1st, 2015.
Hooked: A Family’s Journey with Addiction tells a dramatic story, delivering essential information, with the goal of saving lives. This local Rowayton family lost a son and brother. Jack’s parents, Barbara and Kevin, sought expert advice on how to help and heal their son, and then turned their heartbreak into a life-saving film with the goal of sharing Jack’s story and offering solutions to others who are suffering.
Hooked is a documentary about addiction and love. It faces the devastating effects of addiction through Jack’s story and features interviews with medical professionals, scientists, politicians, activists and best-selling authors, including Former Representatives Mary Bono and Patrick J. Kennedy and Dr. Gabor Mate.
Over 100 Americans die every day from opioid addiction, and since the pandemic began that number has increased by 18%. The Conroy’s continue the fight to end the stigma around addiction, and aid parents who are fighting the same battle. By spreading this important message, Hooked honors Jack’s young life while raising awareness, by partnering with nonprofits, educational institutions and other organizations.
