Rockland’s 11th Annual Recovery Rally 5K Run/Walk for Recovery & Remembrance
The entire Rockland Recovery Rally planning committee wishes to thank you for your generous contribution to Rockland’s 11th Annual Recovery Rally 5K Walk/Run for Recovery & Remembrance on September 23, 2018 at Rockland Lake State Park. Over 400 community members attended the event. The theme Invest in Health, Home, Community, and Purpose certainly rang true throughout the day. We look forward to continuing our investments and advocacy efforts for Prevention, Treatment & Recovery Services for Rockland County.
Participants ran or walked the scenic three-mile path, and enjoyed meeting new friends and supporters along the way. Following the race, guest’s speakers spoke about their journey in recovery and the need for more support services for individuals and families. We remembered those we have lost as family members stood together to speak their loved ones names while listening to background music played by a flutist. The flags with images of young loved ones we have lost waved, as tears fell from over 400 faces.
It is imperative that we fight to remove the stigma from this public health issue so that more people will be able to receive treatment; and more prevention, and recovery services become available in our community.
Your investment shows your commitment to our cause and is greatly appreciated.
Again, we sincerely thank you for your support.
Rockland Council on Alcoholism & Other Drug Dependence, Inc. (RCADD) is pleased to partner with the Kyle Goldberg Memorial Foundation for Rockland’s 11th Annual Recovery Rally. RCADD and KGMF are individual 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations providing substance abuse prevention education services on Rockland County. September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. This year’s theme is Invest Health, Home , Purpose and Community. As part of this National Public Awareness Campaign, RCADD will partner with the KGMG to hold a 5K Run/Walk for Recovery & Remembrance on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Rockland Lake State Park beginning at 8am. Following the race awards ceremony there will be a Remembrance Ceremony to remember those who we have lost to addiction.
The Kyle Goldberg Foundation has been created after his tragic death in July, 2004. Like many young adults, Kyle suffered from substance use disorder. The establishment of this Memorial Foundation was to help other young adults who struggle with this disease.
The event will help educate and support people affected by substance abuse disorders, educate the public that addiction is a treatable disease, and celebrate the lives of those who have gained and sustained recovery. Please support us as we Run/Walk for Recovery for Rockland County Community residents who have lost loved ones, persons in recovery, friends, family members, and allies of Recovery.
We expect of 600 participants and we could really use your help with a donation Your contribution to our Run/Walk event will go a long way in making our Rally successful.
