Frequently Asked Questions
What is my first step in applying to the school?
The first thing you need to do is fill out the application, attach the $50.00 non-refundable application fee and either mail your application to RCADD 25 Smith Street, Nanuet, New York 10954 or drop it off at the office. Your application must be complete with all the required documents before it can be reviewed. Once that occurs, you will be contacted to come in for an interview.
What if I don’t have the application fee?
If you do not have the application fee attached to your application, it will not be processed.
What is the cost of tuition?
Tuition is $2800 for the program and must be paid no later than December 31, 2012 unless personal arrangements are made with the Dean. A deposit of $1000.00 is required prior to enrollment.
When are classes?
Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, and several Wednesdays and Saturdays. Weekday classes are from 6:30PM to 9:30PM and weekend classes are 9AM to 3PM. Sometimes we have to adjust the schedule depending on snow or other extenuating circumstances.
Where are the classes?
All classes are held at the Rockland Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence, Inc, 25 Smith Street,Nanuet, New York.
When do classes begin?
Classes begin September 6, 2012.
How large are the classes?
Typically classes have 18-25 students, so space is limited.
Do I have to be in a recovery program in order to enroll?
No, however, we recommend if you are that you have at least 2 years of continuous sobriety.
What education do I have to have?
You must have a high school diploma or GED.
Are there any online courses offered?
Yes, built into the schedule will be at least 6-10 online courses, so you must have access to a computer.
What if I can’t attend all the courses because of previous commitments?
There is a strict attendance policy with only two excused absences. More than the allowance can jeopardize continuation in the program.
If I have a Master’s Degree or other undergraduate degree, do I have to take all the courses?
To answer this question, go to www.oasas.ny.gov and in the search box type in CASAC requirements and there will be information there to answer this question and other questions you may have regarding credentialing requirements.
